Square saddle stitch brochures break the rectangle habit, giving portfolios, lookbooks and brand books a distinctive shape before anyone reads a word.
A square brochure stands apart from familiar rectangular formats. Open spreads create a wide canvas for photography, interiors, fashion and food, while individual pages frame products and artwork with room to breathe.
It’s a versatile choice for design portfolios, wedding brochures, restaurant menus and art catalogues—particularly when the presentation is part of the pitch.
Saddle stitching secures folded sheets with staples along the spine, creating a lightweight booklet that’s easy to browse, hand out and post.
Full colour brings image-led layouts to life. Pantone inks help maintain consistent brand colours, while black-only printing suits bold typography and pared-back designs.
Choose a paper stock to complement your artwork:
Give your cover a velvety feel with soft-touch lamination, choose matt or silk for a subtle finish, or use gloss to add shine. Anti-scuff lamination helps protect covers from marks during handling and mailing.
Foiling adds a metallic accent to titles and logos, while spot UV highlights selected details with gloss.

Saddle stitching is a bookbinding method which is very similar to stapling. This method assembles brochure pages by first nesting several folded double-leaf spreads on top of each other (starting with the middlemost pages and finishing with the outer cover leaf).
The brochure pages are then stitched together by threading lengths of metal wire (similar to staples) through all pages along the central crease line.
Saddle-stitched brochures are cost-effective to produce, and can be laid fairly flat while open; which means the inner edge of the print won’t get lost in the spine area of the brochure. The latter also makes them ideal for hands-free publications, such as instruction booklets and guides.
You can view our page count options in the table below. Each paper sheet (or ‘leaf’) of your brochure will have two printed pages (pp); one on each side of the paper. Brochure covers consist of four pages, and are included in addition to the page counts listed in the table below.
If you’re still unsure about page counts, or you need a different number of pages to the options here, call us on 023 8087 8037 to discuss your requirements.
Saddle-stitched brochures are available in the following standard sizes. Please note that these measurements refer to the size of the brochure when closed:

The right print method will depend on a number of factors; including the product type, quantity and turnaround time you require.
Better Printing can produce your order on either litho or digital, with both available in-house. Our sales team can recommend the most cost-effective solution for your needs and will confirm your preferred method before going to print.
All brochures and booklets are produced in portrait orientation (with the spine located on the longer edge of the booklet) by default. Alternatively, you can specify landscape orientation for your brochures if needed at the checkout stage.
We recommend supplying artwork as single pages in the same order as you want them to appear in the finished brochure. Please avoid supplying your artwork in printer’s pairs or double page spreads, as this may extend production times of your print order.
The Printer Behind the Product
A format bought for its looks needs a printer who sweats the details, and that has been the InPrint Group’s trade since 1986. Better Printing prints, stitches and trims every square brochure inside our own 20,000 square foot Southampton facility, staffed by more than 50 designers, press operators and finishers. Nothing is farmed out, so colour accuracy and trim precision stay under our control from proof to parcel.
Litho and digital presses run side by side for long and short runs alike, ISO certifications back our quality and sustainability claims with audits rather than words, and support is answered by humans 24 hours a day, six days a week. Thousands of UK businesses trust us with work like this, and repeat customers are most of our order book.
