DL Saddle Stitch Brochures

DL saddle stitch brochures are the perfect way to give customers the information they need. Whether that’s a guide to your products, an overview of your company, instruction manual or price catalogue, the handy DL brochures are for you.

DL saddle stitch booklet printing options

With saddle stitched booklet printing, strong staples are inserted in the spine to bind the brochure pages together. We recommend saddle stitching for smaller brochures and booklets of between 8 and 40 pages – for a brochure with more pages, take a look at our DL perfect bound books.

All our full colour DL saddle stitched booklets are printed on high quality 150gsm silk paper (for the inner pages and cover, as standard). However, a variety of other paper weights and material options are available – please see the Specifications tab.

Create a truly unique saddle stitch brochure design and complete it with some of our eye-catching finishing options. Create laminated brochures – choose from Gloss, Matt or Soft-Touch for a pleasant, velvety feel. Add Spot UV, foiling (10 colours available), debossing or embossing to draw attention to your company name, logo or contact information. Add perforated sections to easily provide tear-out coupons or vouchers.

Create your own DL saddle stitch brochure design using our free, downloadable templates or take advantage of our in house design services.

FAQs

What is saddle stitching?

Saddle stitching is a bookbinding method which is very similar to stapling. This method assembles brochure pages by first nesting several folded double-leaf spreads on top of each other (starting with the middlemost pages and finishing with the outer cover leaf).

The brochure pages are then stitched together by threading lengths of metal wire (similar to staples) through all pages along the central crease line.

What are the advantages of saddle stitching?

Saddle-stitched brochures are cost-effective to produce, and can be laid fairly flat while open; which means the inner edge of the print won’t get lost in the spine area of the brochure. The latter also makes them ideal for hands-free publications, such as instruction booklets and guides.

How many pages can my saddle-stitched brochures have?

You can view our page count options in the table below. Each paper sheet (or ‘leaf’) of your brochure will have two printed pages (pp); one on each side of the paper. Brochure covers consist of four pages, and are included in addition to the page counts listed in the table below.

If you’re still unsure about page counts, or you need a different number of pages to the options here, call us on 023 8087 8037 to discuss your requirements.

What sizes are available?

Saddle-stitched brochures are available in the following standard sizes. Please note that these measurements refer to the size of the brochure when closed:

  • A4 (210mm by 297mm)
  • A5 (148mm by 210mm)
  • A6 (105mm by 148mm)
  • DL (99mm by 210mm)
  • Square (205mm by 205mm)

Looking for a different size? Simply get in touch to discuss our custom size options!

What materials are these products printed on?

Please see the Specification tab for more information on this product’s standard material specification. Alternative stocks and grades can be supplied for most products to help you customise your order – simply get in touch to discuss your print requirements.

Will my saddle-stitched brochures be printed via litho printing or digital printing methods?

The right print method will depend on a number of factors; including the product type, quantity and turnaround time you require.

Better Printing can produce your order on either litho or digital, with both available in-house. Our sales team can recommend the most cost-effective solution for your needs and will confirm your preferred method before going to print.

How do I select portrait or landscape?

All brochures and booklets are produced in portrait orientation (with the spine located on the longer edge of the booklet) by default. Alternatively, you can specify landscape orientation for your brochures if needed at the checkout stage.

What imposition or page order format should I use for my artwork?

We recommend supplying artwork as single pages in the same order as you want them to appear in the finished brochure. Please avoid supplying your artwork in printer’s pairs or double page spreads, as this may extend production times of your print order.
