FAQs

What is digital foil?
Digital foil is a process of applying foil to print without the cost of making a foil block.
How does digital foil differ from hot foiling?

Hot foiling is applied by stamping the foil onto the paper with a block which is usually made of brassFor digital foiling, the item is printed and then a soft touch lamination is applied to the entire surface. The card is then passed back through our digital press and the foiled area is printed on top of the lamination. The card is fed through our digital foiling machine and the foil sticks to the overprinted area

What’s the benefit of using digital foil over hot foil?
As no foil block is required digital foil is a cheaper option for relatively small quantities
Is there a difference in quality between digital foil and hot foil?
The quality of digital foil is very good and this is a very popular product. Due to the method that is used to attach the foil it’s possible you’ll see some speckles on the non foiled areas.
