FAQs

What’s the difference between interlocking and glued?
This refers to the way pockets are secured to the folders.
Glued have a strip of tape on a flap that is then folded and stuck to the back page to make the pocket.
Interlocking has a slotted mechanism that requires no tape to form the pocket.
Glued is a more secure finish but has a longer production time and higher cost due to the extra process.
What shapes are available?

The shape of your custom folders is completely up to you – but if you’re stuck for inspiration, Better Printing can also provide popular die-cutter shapes for a reduced price. Call us for more information!

How large are custom shape folders?

The exact dimensions of your finished folders will depend on your design. Standard folders are printed across a total flat area of 440mm by 630mm size, then folded and die-cut to your chosen shape.

Other sizes can be provided upon request – get in touch for more details!

How many pages can be stored inside the folder pocket?

Each folder can be supplied with a small margin at the pocket edges and folder spine, giving more room to store sheets inside.

Our capacity options range from 0mm margin (which can store up to 10 standard 100gsm sheets) to 10mm margin (up to 70 sheets). Sheet capacity will vary slightly depending on the thickness of your paper sheets.

For more information on our capacity options, call us on 023 8087 8037 or email info@betterprinting.co.uk.

What does ‘single sided’ mean?

With single sided folders, your design is printed onto the outer panels of the folder; this includes the folder pocket, which is fastened to the inside cover after printing. The inside panels of your folders are supplied blank.

What does ‘double sided’ mean?

With double sided folders, your design is printed across all sides of the folder; the inside panels as well as the outer panels and folder pocket.

How are custom folders printed?

Each custom folder is printed in high definition using modern litho press technology – or you can opt for digital printing methods instead depending on your requirements. Call us to find out more!

What materials are custom folders printed on?

All custom folders are printed on sturdy 350gsm silk cardstock by default. Other paper stocks can be provided upon request – just give us a call!

What does capacity and non-capacity mean?
Capacity relates to how deep the spine is on the folder.  For more information about which capacity you need, visit our “Capacity of Presentation Folders” Guide.
How do I layout my artwork on the template?
As you look at the template, the right hand panel will be the front cover of the folder and the left hand panel which has the pocket beneath will be the back cover – the cover folds up and sticks to the inside of the back page.
If you’re folder will be double sided you’ll need to flip the template over so that the pocket is now below the right hand panel. This will be the inside of the back page and the left hand panel will be the inside of the front cover.
